Male model claims he was fired from the Met Gala after his 'good looks upstaged Kylie Jenner' during last year's ceremony

Eugenio Casnighi took to TikTok to open up about the situation

An Italian model has claimed he's been fired from working at this year's Met Gala because his 'good looks upstaged Kylie Jenner'.

Eugenio Casnighi worked as a greeter at the Met Gala for the past two events, but that streak will not take on a third year.

In a new TikTok video, the 26-year-old has claimed he's been removed from the Met Gala employees list after his beauty was apparently the talk of the 2023 event.

"I just got fired from the Met Gala," Casnighi began the TikTok video.

The model then showed a picture of himself standing next to Jenner at the 2023 Met Gala.

"Remember me?" he asked as he pointed out the iconic image.

The clip then went to flashback of Emma Chamberlain interviewing Blackpink's Jennie Kim.

Casnighi is spotted in the background doing his job, with the person recording amazed by his good looks.

The camera quickly drifts away from Chamberlain and focuses on Casnighi's face.

You might remember that the footage went viral last year, as text appearing on the screen read: "Trying to focus on Emma interviewing Jennie but..."

Casnighi went on to claim that he was previously unable to address the situation because he was allegedly under an NDA.

He added: "It's funny enough. They fired me so I can say whatever I want now."

The model claimed that Met Gala organisers blamed him for all the attention he received.

"They blamed me. They said 'you made it about yourself, so we don't want to work with you anymore,'" Casnighi added.

"They let me know today that they cut me off. They fired me because I went viral last year."

Speaking further on last year's event, Casnighi said: "It's funny because the Met Gala and the company that I'm not going to mention... want models to work the red carpet.

"They want people to get noticed. They literally told me 'we picked you because we like you more than other people'.

"But when people took pictures of the actual celebrity, like Kylie Jenner and was next to her, of course I ended up in the picture."

Viewers on the TikTok have been quick to leap to the model's defense, with hundreds flocking to the comments section.

"They can't handle your beauty that goes viral. Will DEFINITELY be happening again," one user penned.

In another video, Casnighi claimed he wasn't the only one who had been fired.
