There are many sports out there for you to enjoy, whether that be football, soccer, baseball or basketball.
However, there are some sports that are a little less known, but that doesn't make them any less predictable.
Chess boxing is one sport that I assume the majority of people have never watched or even heard of.

You can probably guess what is involved with chess boxing, and it really is exactly what you think it is.
So, chess boxing comes under what is known as a hybrid sport as it is split into two disciplines.
Yep, you guessed it... chess and boxing.

A clip of the sport in action was recently uploaded to X by the Historic Vids account.
"Chess Boxing has to be the craziest sport in all of history," the account penned.
The video sees two contestants first have a game of chess in a boxing ring before having an actual bout just moments later.
Talk about going from one extreme to another.

Many have since flocked to the comments section of the X post to comment on the wild sport.
"Imagine the half-time pep talks... 'Keep your knights moving and watch for those uppercuts!" one person joked.

"It needs concentration and ability to think very fast," a second said while a third remarked: "So many useless and meaningless sport nowadays."
So, how exactly does the chess boxing work?
Well, two combatants play alternating rounds of blitz chess and boxing until one wins by checkmate or knockout.
They are not the only two ways to win though, as it is also possible to come out victorious if you by time penalty as in normal chess, and by boxing decision if there is a draw in the corresponding chess match.
As you can see from the viral X clip, the sporting event is held in a boxing ring with a chess board set up on a table in the middle of it.

Chess boxing even has its own governing bodies in the form of the World Chessboxing Association and the World Chess Boxing Organisation.
The 'craziest sport in all of history' was invented by comic book artist Enki Bilal before being later adapted by Dutch performance artist Iepe Rubingh as an art performance.
It has grown in popularity massively in recent times, to the point where it's popular in the likes of the UK, India, Finland, France and Russia.
